The nominations for the 81st Annual Drama League Awards were announced at Sardi's Restaurant on Tuesday April 21st.

Tam Mutu has been nomiated for the Distinguished Performance Award.

Voting is now open for all current Drama League members, and voting closes at 12.00pm on Wednesday 13th May.

 

17th DECEMBER 2014

Complete casting has been announced for the Broadway premiere of the new musical Dr. Zhivago, starring Tam Mutu, Kelli Barrett, Tom Hewitt and Paul Nolan, which will begin performances March 27, 2015, at the Broadway Theatre.

Tam will make his Broadway debut as Yurii Zhivago. Based on the 1958 Novel Prize-winning novel by Russian author Boris Pasternak, Dr. Zhivago will officially open on Broadway on April 21st.

The stage production will feature a book by Michael Weller, music nu Lucy Simon, lyrics by Michael Korie and Amy Powers, choreography by Kelly Devine and will be directed by Des McAnuff.

5th DECEMBER 2014

Tam is currently taking on the iconic role of Stone in Cy Coleman and David Zippel's City of Angels at the Donmar Warehouse. The show will be running until 7th Febuary 2015.

14th JUNE 2014

After 2 years at the Queen's Theatre, Tam performed the role Javert in Les Misérables on Saturday 14th June for the last time.

 

14th MAY 2014

It has been announced that Tam Mutu has won the 2014 West End Frame Award for Best Performance of a Song in a Musical, with the song 'Stars' from Les Misérables. They received over 14,500 votes during the seventeen day voting period.

Speaking to West End Frame, Tam said: "Wow! What a wonderful surprise! Thank you so much to everyone who voted. It is a huge honour to get to sing a song that has been performed by so many great artists over the years. To be given this award is very humbling. I am truly overwhelmed. Thank you!"

In second place is Tam's current co-star Carrie Hope Fletcher for her rendition of 'On My Own' from Les Misérables, and in third is Tam's former Valjean Gerónimo Rauch for his performance of 'The Music of the Night' from The Phantom of the Opera. This is the first time that Les Misérables has won the award and the first time that 1st and 2nd have been won by performances from the same show.

ANDREW LIPPA IN CONCERT

Multi-award winning West End and Broadway actress Jenna Russell, international and current West End stars of Wicked, Willemijn Verkaik (evening performance only) and Ashleigh Gray, and current Les Miserables Eponine and Javert, Carrie Hope Fletcher and Tam Mutu are lined up to appear alongside Tony and Grammy award nominated composer and lyricist ANDREW LIPPA in his debut London concert, this November 17.

The man behind Broadway’s Big Fish, The Wild Party and The Addams Family comes to London’s St James Theatre this November taking the audience through his life and career as a writer and composer. The concert will exclusively preview music from his latest Broadway creation Big Fish - a new musical adaptation based on the book by Daniel Wallace and the Tim Burton film (recently opened at the Neil Simon Theatre, directed and choreographed by Susan Stroman) – and will also feature music from his hit shows, as well as his lesser known works and a selection of ‘lost’ material.
